Chief Legal Officer – Townsville City Council

Your New Role

As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will provide legal services and collaborative solutions in support of the ongoing appetite Townsville City Council have for innovation and growth. Leading governance and regulatory compliance, this role is responsible for a team of 8 internal professionals as well as the external legal team and reports to the Director of Business Services. The Chief Legal Officer is legal counsel to the CEO.

You will provide leadership across the organisation, supporting colleagues on all legal and compliance matters including commercial and corporate legal decisions whilst maintaining a strong collaborative approach within the Executive and Senior Leadership team.

What You Need to Succeed

We are seeking an exceptional legal professional holding a current practising certificate for this opportunity. You will have demonstrable experience in a similar position coupled with Senior Management skills and expertise. On a day-to-day basis you will utilise your natural stakeholder engagement experience along with your ability to identify, prioritise and execute project planning, strategy and leadership. As the subject matter expert, you will be adept at working to a common purpose whilst maintaining a pro-active, commercial approach to leadership and management.
