  • Leadership opportunity for a flexible senior legal professional
  • Supervise the legal elements of pricing, licensing and compliance matters and policy reviews in the energy, water, transport and local government sectors
  • Lead legal specialists and collaborate closely with other professionals to provide high quality legal services
  • Part time variable hours in a Central Sydney office location with flexible working conditions and remote working options
  • Senior Executive Band 1 role, with TRP range commencing at $219,028, pro-rated to working hours.

About the role

The Director Legal is part of a small team responsible for managing and coordinating in-house legal services. The Director Legal ensures high quality, legally robust and strategically sound advice in a way that is tailored to meet our clients’ needs.

Some of the matters assigned to the role relate to energy network regulation, public water utility regulation and local government. Other matters involve reviews referred by Government, such as IPART’s current electronic conveyancing and rail access reviews. The role is also responsible for assigning matters to and supervising lawyers.

This role will initially be offered on a temporary basis to the successful candidate for a period up to 18 months, with the possibility of ongoing employment. For more information on the role and its accountabilities, click here to view the role description

About you

You are an experienced legal professional looking for a new challenge or to take the next step in your career. You will ideally possess some level of government understanding and your experience in administrative law and economic regulation will be beneficial for your success in this role.

You are a demonstrated people leader, known for supporting and managing your team and colleagues to ensure desired outcomes are achieved and skills and capabilities developed.

Most of all, you are looking for a flexible career option, and to establish yourself as a trusted leader and legal advisor. You are open to collaborating with a job share partner from early 2023.

The total remuneration package for this role is $219,028 – $242,658 (pro-rated to part time hours) per annum including superannuation.
