This position is a part time (0.6 FTE), 3-year fixed-term role that reports to the Head of School. The Director of Experiential Learning will maintain and consolidate the Experiential Learning Program with the aim of ensuring that every Law & Justice student has the opportunity to undertake experiential learning for credit. This role will also grow and innovate current experiential learning opportunities for law and criminology students, in line with market employment changes. As a member of academic staff, the incumbent is expected, among other things, to make contributions to the teaching effort of the institution, particularly teaching experiential learning courses.

 

 

 

Responsibilities:

Specific accountabilities for the academic role include:

·       Apply a well-defined teaching philosophy that inspires student learning.

·       Conduct classes, particularly experiential learning courses, assess student learning achievements and support students in postgraduate and undergraduate courses in line with UNSW policy.

·       Design and develop learning activities and resources, and assessment and feedback using a range of suitable approaches and learning environments

 

Specific accountabilities for the Director of Experiential Learning role include:

·       Advise Dean, Deputy Dean Education and Heads of School on issues related to Faculty policy on experiential learning including clinical and internship issues and ensure this aligns with Work Integrated Learning strategies at UNSW.

·       Responsibility for coordinating the UNSW Law & Justice internship/work integrated learning courses and delivery of same within the teaching load of the individual academic.

·       Develop and update curriculum of internship courses including content, readings, assessment, and online modes of delivery.

 

Who You Are:

 

·       Advanced tertiary qualifications in law, criminology or a related discipline, and extensive relevant work experience;

·       Actively stays up to date with discipline knowledge and professional development

·       Demonstrated experience in teaching and learning design, development and delivery at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.

·       Experience using and/or designing with educational technologies and online delivery methods

·       Capacity to develop and coordinate Experiential Learning Programs

·       Experience in the community legal sector, criminal justice sector or professional practice
