About the role The position of Legal Counsel reports to the General Counsel and forms part of a close-knit team. The Legal Team works closely with all of Tyro’s business units and is regularly involved in cross-functional teams working towards delivering new products and solutions for Tyro’s customers Role Responsibilities:

  • Giving accurate and timely counsel to executives and business stakeholders, covering a variety of legal areas, including financial services, commercial contracting, privacy and intellectual property
  • Working closely with Tyro’s business units to deliver new products and initiatives
  • Reviewing and advising on commercial contracts and marketing materials
  • Monitoring developments in the legal and regulatory environment
  • Assisting in the development of policies, procedures and training programs for staff on relevant legal issues
  • Researching and evaluating different risk factors regarding business decisions and operations
  • Communicating and negotiating with counter-parties

Role Requirements:

  • 4-7 years PQE
  • A current NSW practicing certificate
  • Proven in-house legal experience
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and escalations
  • Ability to provide commercially focused legal support
  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills
  • Demonstrated legal expertise in either financial services law, technology media and telecommunications or privacy law
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate to people in a range of positions
  • Interest in process improvement and efficiency (including adoption of technology-enabled solutions)
