An exciting opportunity exists to undertake varied and fascinating legal work as General Manager, Legal Services (VPSG6) at the Victorian Inspectorate (VI). If you have demonstrated experience in strategic leadership within government in a regulatory, integrity or law enforcement context, a track record in delivering authoritative and expert legal advice in a complex and sensitive environment and have excellent people and stakeholder management skills, the VI is interested in hearing from you.
Reporting to the Executive Director, Legal and Integrity (General Counsel), the General Manager, Legal Services leads the Legal Services team to provide expert legal advice to the Inspector, enabling the delivery of all of the VI’s oversight functions through the framework of the VI’s Operations Model and in line with the VI’s Integrity Response Guidelines. The position also plays a lead role in supporting the VI to operate as a budgetary independent agency, advising on a broad range of corporate and governance obligations. This is a new fixed term position which has been created in response to the VI’s continuing expanding statutory remit and increasing corporate requirements. The VI requires a dedicated, highly skilled and well-rounded legal practitioner to manage the legal services team, support the General Manager, Integrity Operations and Policy and the Director, Budget Independence and Strategy.
